What is Life Lease?

Life Leases were created in the Prairies over 30 years ago when non-profit organizations saw a need for seniors housing but lacked the money to build them. So they thought: why not in essence borrow the money from future residents and then pay it back when they move out?

And that’s essentially what it is all about. M.A.S.H. owns the building and operates it.

People have a 30 year lease (29 years 364 days) which can be renewed if people are still there at year 30.

It is in M.A.S.H.’s interest to build a high quality building because they are responsible for maintaining it.

Residents don’t need to do anything basically – even the appliances are provided so if anything goes wrong they will be fixed or replaced by M.A.S.H.
