Recreation Program
The Recreation Coordinator oversees the recreation aides, the activation aides (see Special Therapies), and the volunteer programs (see Getting Involved as Volunteers).
The recreation department provides small group and 1 to 1 support for residents as well as large group events. Programs vary and include musical entertainment, games, outings, gardening, arts and crafts, movies, storytelling, quizzes, church services from many groups in the community, and many visits from children from day cares and schools.
They also organize bigger events to which family and others are invited such as Christmas Tree Trimming parties, Volunteer Appreciation Night, etc.
They organize a Residents’ Council meeting monthly to provide a more formal process to receive input and ideas from residents.
A newsletter goes out each month to the main family contact to provide current information regarding upcoming programs and events.
